Hiya all,
I'm in the market for a new Laptop, want something with a fantastic resolution screen that will allow me to have Chrome, its debugger and VI and file explorer all sitting nice and easy to read and work on. not worried about battery power or size.
does not have to be a new model, something older or if anyone knows a good 2nd/refurb place to buy that would be great.
does not need to run games - although hd movies would be a bonus.
i've always had dell's but was not impressed by there screens recently. acer timeline perhaps???
amazon have this at what looks a dam fine price.

thanks all!

If it's not going to be mobile, ever, why not get whatever laptop you want and spent about £150 on a nice big screen?
beware of the difference between high-contrast and glossy screens and matt ones, like on business Dells.
For working on I would get a matt-screen Dell - a precision or the like.
http://www.europc.co.uk/ has discounted Dells - and you can get a 3yr warranty.
You will also want a high resolution, at least 1080P and preferably 1900x1200 if they are still available, otherwise you will be juggling windows annoyingly.

or get a desktop and two nice big screens.
or a 1920x1200 laptop and a 1920x1200 24inch screen, which works well for me.
umm i didnt say it was not going to be mobile, i'm going to be travelling quite a bit and just wanted to pop open the thing when i get to where i am going and work a few days. i dont really want to be carrying screens and desktops around.
matt screen - CHECK!
Having just had to travel for work with a 15" ~2" thick dell brick, IMO that's too big for traveling. Total hassle which I resented having to lug about.
If I was traveling often I'd want at most a very thin 15, ideally smaller!
460+vat isnt bad for this lineup - dell outlet;

My boss just got one, and it's rather nice.
Toshiba do a 14" USB-powered secondary screen for about £150. Only 795g and gives much more pixels to work with than stepping up to a higher-res display.
