I'm taking a look at my website usage statistics with Webalizer for the first time.

1. What are referrers?

2. In the section 'Top 28 of 28 Total Sites' i see a list of what look like web addresses eg. host86-151-145-176.range86-151.btcentralplus.com, but i don't know what they are. Can you explain?

Any help much appreciated.

Sites who link to you which were followed by someone. Eg if you linked to your site on stw thecpage where you pasted the link would appear as a referal when another user followed the link. The data comes from the http header.

And what about the 'host86-151-145-176.range86-151.btcentralplus.com' address? Who/where/what is that?

That will be someone coming from a IP address pool so maybe ADSL with dynamic addressing or cable, or dial-up. Its just a transient IP address that someone was/is using, opposed to a gateway address for a proxy or something (for example everyone from a company will likely come from behind an address that resolves as proxy.companyname.com)
