We are going away for 2 weeks (my address is Buckingham palace) and I would like to set up a webcam that records and that I can view online live, on eBay they have wireless ip cameras for about £30 whats the next process ?
Or is there a way using an existing web cam set up to imac recording and using the hard drive on the imac ?
many thanks in advance 8)

I have found plenty of Webcam/Security Cam stuff for windows so should be some for mac on Sourceforge - mostly motion sensitive so that if something moves it will start recording.
There are also some broadcast IP ones. I assume it's so that you can monitor your security and see who nicked your tv not spy on your house sitters?
Just remember they will probably nick the mac
You can normally set things like this up to record constantly or just email clips to an email address/upload to FTP.
Worth having that setup as above, they will most likely nick any computer equipment that is knocking around.
I have a synology NAS which came with some software and use that but my DLink DCS-942L also came with the D Link software which would record to a machine and has the DLink cloud bits so as you can view on a smart phone away from home.
Have a look at the iCam app. Does exactly what you want using the iMac camera. Works well, though best to test when you're not on the same wifi before you go away, you may need to open some ports. Records via iPhone and will also record on motion detection.
