We have a small outdoor pool that has a little pump to filter the water. It's not a great design; the pump needs to stay connected with flexible hoses or water will pour out. The pump is then connected to an outdoor socket on the side of the house about 5 meters away. We're not going to be using it for a couple of weeks and don't want to leave the electrical wire trailing across the grass as it's a bit of a trip hazard. If we unplug the electrical wire for the pump we need something to put over it to protect it from the rain since we can't just remove the pump from the pool without draining the water.  Any ideas?

We also don't want to just drain the pool and re fill it in a few weeks since there's now a hosepipe ban.

I think the only real solution is to wire up a permenant power supply suitable for outdoors, like wou would for a swimming pool or something.

Who's going to trip over it? 😆

There are boxes designed for using extensions outdoors.

Link to a large one, you may be able to find a smaller one for a single plug.

Just coil it up and put it in a bin bag

I wouldn't overthink it. An upturned bucket or storage box will be fine. Put a brick on it to make it wind proof

Roll up the cable and plug, put it in a plastic bag and put a rock or whatever on top

Why is it a trip hazard when you are away but not when you are at home?

Anyway, my pump cable plug has one of those boxes linked above.  Surprisingly wasn't totally waterproof.  It now has a plastic storage box over the top which works.

We're not away or going away. Just not using the pool at the moment. So don't want a wire left out that will inevitably get forgotten about.
