I'm a weather data addict. I love following live observational data and illustrative charts. With another heavy duty storm coming in and some more inches of rain forecast, has anyone get any more for my fix?

Me too!

I love this site:

http://cairngormweather.eps.hw.ac.uk/

You can take the raw historic data and play around with it. I used to to find spikes in min temperature in each season when I was trying to work out the relevancy of 3/4 season ratings for sleeping bags.

For instance the wind this afternoon [img] [/img]

the guy who runs the malvernwx site gave me shared access to his dropbox of historic recordings so I could play around with the reams of data he collects.

Pity your link is offline at the moment 🙂 although all the interesting weather is happening a lot further south these days.

yr.no is my favourite site for skiing weather. Very good overall as well.

As with Stoner, I do love a bit of http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ for kite/sailing use as well.

I find Meteogroup give very accurate forecasts. They have this site for land forecasts.

Weathercast

They also do a brilliant app for marine forecasts, I have been on jobs offshore where they were providing very expensive bespoke forecasts for the site, which were almost identical to the info given for free on the app. Meteo Group

Loads of good ones already listed. Not so much a forecasting resource, but I like the Climate Reanalyzer too.

I knew this would turn into a thread of everyone posting their favourite forecast sites rather than reading the OP 🙂

Here's some data for you. It went from dry and still to hammering it down and majorly windy in about half an hour, here in Cardiff. Possibly the windiest so far this year!

Not weather data but I can't think of a better job than climbing Helvellyn every day to play in the snow and take photos: http://www.lakedistrictweatherline.co.uk/gallery?result_132659_result_page=1

What you want for your hardcore weather needs is to move on from this soft earth based stuff and get you a fix of some space weather. Have a play with:

Ive been using the EA site, but it doesnt work on tablet/mobile which is a bit crap if you are out and about and want to check levels.

The Severn down the road is probably going to stay below 2007 levels, but in Worcester it will probably go over.

Not data, but interesting for comparison, photos showing the once in a century storm in Aberystwyth, in 1927

[img] [/img]

And another in 1938, quite common these once a century storms.

Both from:

Winston_dog, I rely totally on Meteogroup's Weather Pro app, it's the most accurate I've found, and I love the satellite view and precipitation radar, they really give a clear idea of how the weather is actually progressing. Possibly one of my most used apps since I first started using it on my iPhone 3.
