There's lots of redundancy in the system, but if say North Korea could knock out the West's internet we'd have very little time to either get it working again or come up with a whole new way of doing something before society fell.
Very, very little time. I've seen what happens when a warehouse network goes down - everything just stopped, completely, utterly and instantly - 24 hours it was back, in that time 2 trucks (instead of a couple of dozen) left half-full and that was only because someone went hunting through hundreds of cages of stock looking for a few desperate items.
This place handles a lot of food for a very large geographic area - if it was down for a week then the shops would be looking very empty. They say we're only 2 days away from anarchy at any time - 2 days of no food in the shops and it's every man for himself.
