Our front door is a wood one from when the house was built in 1984
and is knackered so with the winds we are getting I am getting grief from Mrs T
seem Composite is now the way to go and with gazilions of suppliers when I googled was wondering if the STW help-desk had any recommendations .
I am happy to fit it myself so supply only needed.

few years since I sold comp doors, so may have got better. There can be issues with the dark colours and south facing, they get hot, skins crack up a bit, colour can fade.

Chris, I'm getting mine from a co on snaygill ind est, skipton. the lad who works there (Richie), also works for me part time. If you tell him your a friend of mine and I've sent you in, hopefully he'll do you a deal. They're Trade, so should be a good price anyway. I think it's Padiham Glass (Trade Counter), they're a couple of units to the left of Pennine Marine.

How are they for insulation?

Our door, not sure what it is but fitted by the builders 5 years ago, is shite - not fitted properly for a start but it's always pretty cold to the touch, and the hallway is always freezing.

If you do go Composite, get a solid comp one, not hollow (of foam filled). I've got a solid one that we I fitted a few months ago, it's a good door, except that the hinges are ****ng me right off as they keep slipping... got the manufacturers coming to look at it in a couple of weeks..

My door is From Sun Trade or Sun INternational. I'm not convinced they are the best, but certainly not too bad.
