Our parish (council) has be offered a heap of free stone.

But we need ideas for a possible use.

My suggestions so far:

Maze/Sculpture Stone henge type thing.
Benches
Giant rockery
Add back to the sea defences
Pyramid
A boundary wall around our wild meadow.
Spell out our village name so Google can see it 🙂
General hardstanding for impromtu events.
Fire proof yout shelter.

I'm sure you guys will have other great suggestions 🙂

Being STW you will no doubt be in a dispute with your nieghbour fairly soon. Dump it all on their lawn as a pre emptive strike?

Childrens stepping stone course.

Build a giant Trebuchet and fling them out into the river (PS we are next to the Severn).

"Have the Severn Beach Parish Council got money to burn!"

No.

Offered to the Council for nothing. Looking for a use.

Build a quarry?

Can you do that with a pile of rocks? Surely you can only destroy/eliminate a quarry with a pile of rocks...

ah, the old "i cant be bothered to dispose of this waste properly, i wonder if some one will collect it for me"

You want to be careful you dont fall foul of the waste disposal regs and your project doesnt get classed as an illegal landfill

Dont get me wrong, im all for obvious reduce reuse recycle, but the law isnt laid out like that

@Olly

Its a genuine offer by the sea defence contractor. If we dont want it they will dispose of it properly.

Its very nice stone and was most likely used on the Aust Ferry landing, circa 1800.

Its not a waste disposal wheeze... even though it could look that way.

No - dig up your own lawn, lay the stone just beneath the surface then returf. Your lawn is now free from the risk of frozen sausages. Next step is to always keep your shoes in sealed bags.

Please build something with it. To chuck all that in a landfill would be criminal.

Personally I'd go for a dry-stone wall for now, so that it's easy to reclaim and re-use in something else more permenant (extension?) later down the line.

Agree.
But it's still going to cost you to move it anywhere if you do decide to keep it (which I can see the attraction of).

Lay it in a pattern (spiral, snake, wave etc) in a green space and encourage kids to play on it. Use some for seating.

Patch up a little bit of Hadrian’s Wall?

Leave them where they are - but call it Hadrian's wall. I've no qualms about the border being redrawn to take in lands north of the River Severn and you save on transport costs. Win-win.

Give them to a local school for the kids to paint.
Kids love painting pebbles.

Build a shelter for kids to hang out in. Buses might start stopping there so they can escape the drudge.

Yes, people were really paying money to be thrown 70ft in the air, by a trebuchet, into a net, 100ft away.

Wrong in many many MANY ways!

You'll no doubt be further surprised to learn that it went wrong in a fatal sort of fashion and had to be shut down.
