OK so I am hopefully off Iceland next month and don't really have a waterproof that I can fit a decent insulated layer underneath (loosing weight might be the answer here). Hopefully something I'll get some use out of walking here in the UK also.

Can any recommend a waterproof shell, with pit zips for around £90? Or maybe more if it includes a insulated / fleece also (up to £130) So far I seen this for a shell -

Or maybe this for a 3in1 from Decathlon

Might be worth perusing this discussion:

I've been immensely pleased with my Montane Extreme, though I'll acknowledge it isn't technically a waterproof.

If you're a size L:

Can't comment on the specific jackets but ME are great and the Magic Mountain outlet is legit.

Is this the kind of thing you had on mind? https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/men-s-hiking-lightweight-waterproof-jacket-mh500/_/R-p-301681?mc=8502097&c=BLUE
I bought one off a PSA on here and am very impressed with it.

Yes something like that Decathlon one is what I was thinking. Does it have pit zips?

I've just ended up with a Zeno.

It's great so far - and I've had it out in p*ssing rain a few times. Best bit is having a smaller hood, not some huge helmet hood.

If it's just for this trip could you loan one from a mate?

IME a watefproof jacket and a fleece isn't going to cut it for February in Iceland if you plan on being outside a lot. Our shitest winter weather in Scotland is a clement spring for them.

They have brilliant outdoor shops in Reykavik though, and even a sports direct so winging it and buying stuff if you get bad spell of weather could work. I certainly ended up in 66degress factory outket buying extra thermals!

Having watched a couple of BBC4 Icelandic dramas set in winter,  I'd be dressing for Polar exploration
