Just back from the dentist where I had my teeth scaled. Horrible, just totally horrible. So I thinks to myself that there might be some gadget that I can use beyond a good old toothbrush and floss.

Google came up with this little chap:

75PSI! 😯
I had no idea such a thing existed- anyone got any experiences/ suggestions etc. I would prefer comments re: poor dental hygiene to be kept to a minimum, thanks!

There's another thread from a while ago if you can find it. I prefer the Philips one.

75PSI!

Could use it for cleaning out those hard to get to parts of the cassette.

I've got the Phillips one as well. Use it daily in addition to brushing and flossing. A good tool to enhance dental care and, at my last visit to the dentist, was told that the gum pockets around teeth have gotten significantly smaller.

Could use it for cleaning out those hard to get to parts of the cassette.

Haven't tried that, but do use an old electric toothbrush to clean out small nooks and crannies on bike parts

I just stick to normal flossing...having accidentally jet washed a finger and stripped flesh off it I would dread doing the same thing to my gums or tender parts of my teeth....
I also bought an Oral B electric brush with the flossing action heads (you can interchange heads) and last visit was the first time to the dentists he didn't torture me with that clean and polish routine.
If you do get one, let us know what you think!

75 PSI but, how many SIs do you reckon make up the contact patch of the water jet? If the jet is 1/32" across (and it's probably less), you're looking at 75/32/32 = 0.073 pounds of pressure, or about an ounce.

Having absentmindedly jet washed my leg in the past I can reassure everyone that the water floss is nothing like it. I too got congratulated on my dental hygiene after buying one.

I like it. Not a substitute for flossing though. I've got impacted wisdom teeth and use to get infected quite regularly, the water pick really helps flush out all the bits that use to cause the infections, so for that it's great.

Cheers folks. If I can avoid the nasty mechanical device on my teeth I'll be happy.

Interesting, I almost got one a couple of years ago but read a lot of negative reviews (water spraying everywhere, not very effective if your teeth are very close together etc.) so didn't bother.

my teeth are very close together, when i started using the sonicare water floss thing i thought it was a failure as it was just bouncing off.

It's a bit minging but i persevered and now the mouthwash gets through the gaps 😳 turns out there was just some crap in the gaps
