The shared sewer that runs across the garden has collapsed. The water co own this and have arrived to fix it at their cost. Its under the patio (luckily well away from where the bodies are) so step one was to lift that. He went at it with a spade and chipped a slab, then a crowbar and cracked it, then knocked at the door and asked if we have any spares (we don't). Didn't seem like particular forward planning. What can we expect them to do to make good overall? I don't want to be a dick about it, the job needs doing, but also we had a nice patio with aged, matching, not cracked slabs.
I'd expect them to make good, but sourcing an exact match with your existing slabs would seem to be pushing it.
Does your neighbour have a matching slab you could steal?
Phone them and speak to estates dept. they should be reinstating to the same standard as what's there now.
Bloke living down the road had the same thing two years ago, new tarmac drive, retaining wall and landscaping all done once the pipe had been renewed.
