Omega Seamaster having erratic movement and manual says that battery will need to be replaced soon... is sending it to Authorized Dealer worth it? (cost more and takes time) .. or just pop into my local watch centre here
Your watch has a battery? oh, the inhumanity of it,,,,
I sent my wife's Tag away to be have the battery changed, cost a fortune took six weeks. When it next needed done I took it to a shop in Glasgow, took 20 mins and it still works fine three years later.
I'd suggest you'll be fine with your local place, but it's your risk to take.
For a battery change I wouldn't bother with an AD. A proper rip off.
Haha, yah actually regret getting a quartz version.
Thanks lads
Do it yourself? What's the worst that can happen? 😉 *
* did this on a g-shock. For some reason many functions don't work now. Still, it tells the time - that'll do.
Timpsons. Life time replacement for £10
A good jewellers should be able to do it, or, if you're feeling really brave, get a case opening tool-set from Maplin and do it yourself. A mate works as a goldsmith, and one of his colleagues changed my TAG Series 1000 for free.
I've had the back off my Seiko auto diver and regulated it myself, just making sure I treated the 'O'-ring with care and put a touch of silicon grease on it when I closed it up.
Spending a small fortune at an AD might be OK if you want it pressure tested, but even then a good jeweller can get that done for a lot less; I was quoted £20 to get the TAG tested, but as it doesn't get any wetter than going in a shower, I declined.
