Why do they break at the most inconvenient moment?

Can anyone point me in the direction of any cheap deals going at the moment, less is good, and even less is better. IT is a washing machine not a bike, so i refuse to spend money,

avoid hotpoint ours sounds like a tin of bolts being shaken by a 4yr old high on smarties. Really hope it breaks soon. 👿

Get a beko. Mine broke last week and I spent a good while researching over the weekend. there are two schools of thought on washing machines, spend a lot and get a really good one with a great warranty which will last for years, or buy cheap and don't expect it to last for more than a couple of years.at the cheap end, beko seem to hit the best balance of rock bottom prices and decent enough parts and build to not explode in the first year.you should be able to get a halfway decent one for well under two hundred.

Of course I didn't follow my own advice and spent almost four hundred on a hotpoint, but I really hope it'll last as long as our old indesit. Plus it's shiny.

ours went a week after the baby was born.

We got a zanussi of some sort, for £270ish reduced from £400 from comet on 0% for 6 months jobby. It washes clothes and stuff, so i can't fault it really.

We went down the beko route after our hotpoint gave uP after 10 years. I'd fitted 3 pumps to it and it was failing again. Beko is amazingly quiet, huge drum and fast programmes, very pleasantly surprised. Cheapest place was sainsburys online

I got a free one off a friend of a friend. Happened to notice that he commuted by bike and still had a set of Smart halogen lights (remmber them?), so donated my spares to him.

So my cost Vs reliability ratio is WIN!

I have just bought a gorenje on the recommendation of my reliable and cheap local repair guy (39.95 call out) these models have a five year guarantee. Which is pretty awesome. gorenje

Most modern ones don't last long. Hotpoint is the market leader but it has a very poor reputation.

I have a sister in law who has a twenty year old Bosch in the garage. I n the last few years she has had two new machines and when they breakdown she gets the Bosch out. I don't know why she doesn't use it full time.

My suggestion is buy an old Bosch or AEG they are built like tanks and cost about £60 second hand. They are repairable too. The downside is they are porbably not as efficient as modern machines.
