Had to replace a leaky washing machine. The drain hose is connected behind not under the kitchen sink. Had to cut the drain hose off the old machine and can't aceess the other end without cutting the cupboard out.
Any way of connecting the old and new drain hoses or do I have to chop?
Is there not enough slack in the hose to get it in the drain then slide machine in?
If not, how did it get in originally?
A bit of tube and two jubilee clamps will join the hose. Could add some silicone sealant or PTFE tape to improve the chances of a good seal. Iirc a slice of handlebar is about the right diameter.
There's a slot cut in the side panel for the hose. It looks as if the machine was plumbed in then the kitchen units fitted. A right pain. I'm thinking I might enlarge the slot at the side first. Five minute job becomes a proper messy noisy pain.
An old boy on site once told me "There is no such thing as a five minute job".
I would try to join the pipe as suggested above but really you should try to get some access if it all goes horribly wrong. Butchering the cabinets is never advisable but its better than not being able to get to a leak. Carefully try a pad saw to enlarge the side of the unit?
Had to cut through the plastic part of the hose so thinking these and a smear of silicone might work.
With a connector between as posted above. Not sure on the outlet size, but I need something that fits the spiral part of the hard plastic hose.
Or it's out with the jigsaw.
Have enlarged the existing cut on the side panel next to the wall, removed the remnants of the old hose pushed the new one on the spigot with a bit of fairy liquid and running a quick wash.
Do the the spigots come with two sizes of thread on them? Can only get the hose on a couple of cm.
Flooded kitchen update to follow....
Good news/bad news
It doesn't leak but it did sound like I washing nuts and bolts. Right up until the point it blew the electrics.
