Hopefully this will do the story more justice than the TC effort a few years ago:

Looks good, hopefully i'll remember to watch it when it comes out. Currently listening to the Jeff Wayne's musical drama version on audible.

Looks like it could be rather good, that. (There's a US version in production also, IIRC?)

I was on holiday a few weeks ago, walking across the car park when some woman's kid ran away from her. She shouted at him, "no, Nathaniel!" and once I'd stopped giggling I was earwormed for two days.

I was at Primrose Hill last week and it suddenly occurred to me, either there or Greenwich Park hill, Google disappointment. Don't even know where Horsell is.
(I'm talking about the original book btw, I may have wrongly assumed that this film was it)

Erm... I liked the Tom Cruise version. It had more grit about it that I first imagined, even watching repeats it’s still a great romp.

That ^^ looks just as good... 🤗

Couple of miles from my house. Maybury Hill mentioned often in the book just round the corner.

i.e. Woking. Which to be honest currently looks as much a disaster area as described in the book.

Anyway, sadly they filmed this in/around Liverpool.

Delamere Forest and Great Budworth are 2 of the locations in that trailer.

I watched that advert on the telly the other night, and despite living equidistant from both of those places, and riding through them regulary, I didn't notice that! 🙄

No dates for it airing that I can find yet. Just 'this autumn'.

Isn’t this the first version that’s in the appropriate Edwardian period?
Looks like this could be really rather good.

I try and avoid Great Budworth on the bike as it's got a reputation as being very anti-cyclist. The residents are quite happy to have gigantic 4x4s clogging up the tiny streets but ride a bike through there and you get looked at like a 3-legged alien invader.
Which makes it quite amusing that the place got thoroughly trashed for the filming. It was quite well-profiled locally, I can see it adding to the tourist charm of the place.

Provided that the tourists come by car. Don't want any of those nasty cyclists, riding like they're in the Tour de France...

Sounds like a good reason to ride through the place to me! The local cycling clubs and newspaper got unevidenced letters of complaint a few years ago from the parish council accusing cyclists of pissing in their historical horse trough. 🤣

It's a reasonable retelling of the actual book. weirdly it was mostly criticised that it had a happy ending...which it shares with the original.

Yup. Just rewatched the Spielberg one. Not a bad film at all.

Woking of the Old. Probably more like 3 via roads.
