You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
We are in the process of planning to walk the Cape Wrath trail next year. I have plenty of good reliable kit and a lot of experience in walking & camping on long distance paths etc.
The only bit of kit I would need to upgrade for the walk would be a tent, so looking for advice on a new tent.
A budget of around £300. Obviously something not too heavy and nothing that pitches inner first.
So any advice please?
"We are ... walking..." ; are you after a one person, two person or larger tent?
There's a vango f10 ultralight on uttings for 249 at the moment, reduced. Weighs 1420g.
For that money a decent light tent
. I think you'd be into lanshan territory for a lighter tent within budget
I'm of the view I would rather carry a few extra grammes in a place like that, but have real confidence in my tent to withstand wind...That F10 Ultralight or a F10 Xenon (1600g) would get my money.
I own a 900gramme Alpkit tent. But when ever the forecast is less than 'decent', I reach for my 2kg+ Robens or Vango...
Sorry I missed that bit of crucial info out, looking for a 1 person tent.
I have a Lanshan 1 and Lunar Solo but I dont think I would trust them in very bad weather. The only other tent I have a Vango Banshee 200 which is old but to be fair it has stood up to some really horrible weather!
Trekkertent Stealth 1 or 1.5. Sturdy enough, light, made in Scotland. Separate poles available from Bearbones if you don't use walking poles.
