Walking boot replacement insoles

After a visit to an osteo a while back I've been using Pro 11 brand from Amazon, seem to have eased the problem I was having on one foot, I even ended up with a pair of their flipflops for round the house.

I've got Sidas in my old walking boots. They also fit in my ski boots too which is very handy.

Altberg boots do their own brand too, Svartz. They're good

Decathlon do a huge range of insoles of various thicknesses, types and uses.

Currently using some to improve the life of my current trainers.

Very cheap too compared with all the main brands (and probably the same material).

Sidas custom moulded footbeds from backcountryuk in Otley (look on sidas website, I think there are other agents). they're about £80 but worth it and last years. I've worn them every day (transferring between shoes/boots) for about 25 years and I'm on my 3rd set.

I've got a massive box of insoles, tried many different brands and types over the years.

I rate the grangers g30, great supporting and comfortable insole. Great for day walks. I go for the g40 if doing longer multi day hikes, but they're somewhat difficult to find.

I use Sole footbeds in my walking boots and work boots.

Really good.

I'd recommend getting some ones moulded to your feet.

Which model Pro 11 footbeds are people recommending? I had a curious look and there's a fair few options. Same is true, btw, of Superfeet, who do models with various levels of support, volume and cushion.

I need to replace the insoles in my Altberg walking boots. The last 2 replacement were the Superfeet insoles, but I havent been that impressed by them.

What is it you don't like about the Superfeet ones? And which version do you have? The green ones are quite minimally cushioned from memory and relatively high volume, but they have other models with different characteristics. I've got on okay with the heat-mouldable Sole insoles in the past - they used to come as standard with Haglöfs footwear - and also some Superfeet. Didn't like the Sidas moulded things, they just felt wrong for my feet.

My take is that different insoles suit different feet. Heel cups/support are pretty standard, but you get varying levels of arch support and if there's too much bulk there for your foot under the arch, that can be really uncomfortable, plus different levels of cushioning both on the surface of the insole and in terms of the materials used, particularly in the forefoot, plus different volumes.

The high volume ones can be problematic if you don't need the internal volume of your footwear reducing. Conversely, if you do want to reduce volume, you can buy flat volume reducers to sit under the footbed - Superfeet does some.

Some of it is personal preference, but the arch support variation makes a big difference ime, and makes it hard to generalise. Oh, and most OE footbeds are pretty poor in terms of support, which is mostly down to cost. The better ones have some sort of harder support for the heel area, but they tend to be the exception rather than the rule.

The green Superfeet are very hard underfoot and take a very long time to adjust to.

I found that Sidas (blue ones mid-level arch support) and Altberg Svartz footbeds are much more comfortable from day 1.
