About 3 months ago I posetd a thread about really stuggling with my mental health as a result of a physical condition that was making me feel very low and putting me under a lot of pressure at work.
The good news is that work have been brilliant, giving me time off and letting me work mostly from home for a while. Since everyone is now working from home I miss out on nothing as nobody pops round to discuss something sees I'm not in and drops it, they know they have to call or messgae or email.
I am, however, waiting for a diagnosis of my condition, the current front runner is Hereditary Spastic Paraparesis, basically my legs are weak and wobbly and it's a real struggle to walk, it's a bit rubbish but much better than the previous front runner which was Mototr Neurone Disease.
I'm awaitng the results of genetic tests, particularly interesting for me as my academic discipline was genetics, it astounding how much the subject has moved on in the 30 years since I decided I didn't want to be an academic and moved away from the subject.
However I feel my life is on hold until I know what the prognosis is, am I going to need a wheelchair, and adaptation to the house? we're considering moving to somewhere with a bit more outside space where I can keep bees, but we can't make any decisions until we know what's wrong with me and what the future may hold.
I can still ride a few miles as long as the surface is reasonably smooth and there aren't any properly steep bits, I often cycle alongside my wife as she walks the dog. I'm going to sell my road bikes and MTB as I'm never going to be able to ride them properly again, just keeping the Pinnacle Ramin 1. I might have to get a e-bike.
Anyway just venting really. Enjoy your riding. All the best.

Nothing useful to add, just want you know you are being heard.

Stay as positive as you can; it makes a huge difference.
Try not to read too much on the possible diagnosis .. you will just feed the anxiety.
Focus on the good things you plan on doing in the short term and the long term .. bee keeping; something I too interested in taking up, and something my son is planning on doing when he moves to new house.

Try to stay as positive as you can, and whatever the diagnosis medicine is advancing faster now than ever.
Plus as maddening as this place can be, just know that people will always be here to listen and a lot of the time help where they can

On the bike front you can always look at e-powered bikes/trikes. Keep the trike option for any balance problems that may occur. Perfect for getting some pedalling in and coping with any uphill sections.

Maybe a spot of 'in the now' mindfulness learning from an online source.

Other than that we're here to listen and help take some of the load of the domestic support.

Thanks for the responses, I just needed to vent a bit, my wife is very supportive, understaning and generally wonderful, but I am conscious that she needs a break as much as I do, and venting to someone other than her gives her a bit of a break. Thanks.
