I need an ANT+ and BLE HRM and see the Wahoo Tickr is mentioned quite a lot but I have noticed it seems to have been withdrawn from places like Argos and Halfords. Is this still the go to choice or is there something else out there I've missed thats worth considering?

DC Rainmaker seems pretty keen on the Scosche. I have the Geonaute from Decathlon as it's identical to the Garmin comfort strap one.

Same unit just a different label and half the cost.

Scosche Rhythm+ is what I've used for years and recommend too. Also a new model is close to release that has a few extra upgrades to it like storing data for activities like swims where it will upload the data to the watch/phone after the activity. Here's the dcr review of it.

I'm convinced!

Mio Link or Mio Fuse. Much more comfortable than a chest strap, usually accurate for me.

That new Scosche looks interesting, better battery life anyway. An it seems the upper arm style can be more accurate for some people.

Or the new Wahoo Tickr Fit, for another armband style.

Andybrad,

Scosche will connect to any smartphone that has bluetooth. Used the original one on xperia z1 and z3 compacts and on samsung galaxys

Thanks Chaps

Ive used fitbit HR devices before and the HR capture seems fairly accurate if you stay still but moving ruins it...

It seems like the upper arm Scosche style optical devices are possibly a bit more reliable and thats the eay the market is moving? What are the pros of these over the ECG style chest bands?

The new Tickr Fit is a really good bet. Seen quite a few reviews now:

I have just used a wahoo tickr and it was faultless, i had 3 bluetooth concurrent connections and it never dropped once, some other cheaper Amazon/ebay ones failed miserably. I bought the tickr for reliability plus i now have there cadence sensor and an Elemnt bolt as it all just works. The tickr+ is £25 extra but it doesnt do anything extra that i really need but you may feel differently. The wahoo tickr fit seems like a good idea but i have read that there are lots of variables to get an accurate reading plus i dont find the chest strap at all uncomfortable so yet again i just didnt see any justification for paying an extra £25.
