I've got a few days off and want to tidy the place up before the sun starts shining, in reality I've probably got at least 2 months to sort this. My mates recommended Zinsser BIN but this seams a bit overkill? it's a primer/sealer? I've used it before to cover damp etc but for skirting boards?

Any recommendations? To paint over current yellowing cheap stuff, white, satin, UV capable?

Please don't tell me I have to sand it all back for best practice, I'd rather move.

Minimal sand, Zinsser BIN (sorry), topcoat or two. Boom.

Just done my kitchen and did a bit of experimentation. The Zinsser’d test patches were significantly less prone to chipping/scrapes than the non Zinsser’d bits.  It’s a pain to apply it but it sticks like ****.

Zinsser BIN is very runny and incredibly quick drying so if you do use it, protect the edges of your carpets and get it on quickly.

Aazlad, did you use the BIN as the topcoat?

No carpets in the house so at least that's one less thing sort.

You wouldn't use BIN as a top coat.

It's intended to go on first to make the top coat adhere to the skirting without the need for rubbing it down much.

Dulux Trade Diamond Eggshell. Only had it up for a few weeks but forms the wooden splashback in our bathroom and wearing very well this far. I painted some old yellowing wood on a window seat and it covered in 2 coats (I did use Zinsser in the bathroom first though)

Zinsser BIN is excellent stuff.

Top it with some decent stuff like ahsat mentions and it should be good to go.

Zinsser as the base coat.  Then two coats of your choice paint on top with a light sand between each. We used Little Greene water based eggshell for top coat. Spendy but great paint.

Eggshell. Very hard wearing, sheen finish, washable, A Decorator mate uses it a lot in schools and rental properties.

Would the zinseer stuff work over lead paint without the need to sand back?
