You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
After my Zwifting, well TrainingPeaksVirtualling, PC died the other week, a friendly neighbourhood STW'r sorted it for me (thanks Simon), which involved putting a completely clean installation of Windows onto it. Lovely job.
The thing is, I have an ANT+ USB dongle that I use to connect the trainer to the PC, but the TPVirtual is just not finding it. I've installed the recommended drivers from the TPVirtual site (and uninstalled, deleted, restarted, reinstalled, restarted etc etc) but no joy. I've tried the same drivers with the same dongle and the same TPVirtual software on another machine (a SurfacePro) and it's all fine. I've tried different drivers from the Elite Trainer site, but no joy there either
To be clear, it's not that TPVirtual won't connect to the trainer using Ant+, it doesn't even recognise that the Ant+ dongle is even installed.
The only difference I can see is that in the driver details in Device Manager, the 'good' machine says 'device installed' and the 'not working' machine says 'device configured'. But the driver is still there, the same one, on both machines.
Any ideas? I've raised a ticket with TPVirtual support but I think they're going to shrug their shoulders and say 'sounds like a dodgy dongle', but I'm sure it's a driver installation thing.
Maybe try the Garmin driver as linked in this thread? Seems to work for lots of ant+ dongles, not just Garmin ones:

Ta, I'll try that

Bluetooth not an option?
I had same issue with new laptop back end of last year - W11. The Garmin driver install sorted it.
Right, so, I uninstalled the current driver, and in the 'show hidden devices' view in Device Manager got rid of all the old instances of the dongle (I assume from previous attempts in various USB ports).
Restarted, reinstalled the dongle and used the Garmin driver from above. Still, obviously, no joy. Computer says it's installed fine, app won't find it. Grr.
Bluetooth not an option?
It is, kinda, as I also have a bluetooth dongle that's working fine, but ideally I want to avoid it as I would like to use that to connect to some speakers, for film/tv-watching purposes whilst I'm on the trainer.
Grr, again
