Ok here goes Touran has been great until today !

The rear interior courtesy light has 3 bulbs one comes on automatically when the car is opened there is no override for this (FRONTS ARE FINE) the other 2 have buttons they also come on that's fine...when you start the car up the middle one goes out...fine but the other 2 stay on ! they are supposed to go off as well but have now decided to stay on pressing the buttons makes no difference !

The easy was to solve is to remove the bulbs !

Any suggestions as to what it could be would be great.

FRONT COURTESY LIGHTS ARE FINE

Many thanks in advance

Take the bulb out 'till you get a fix / take it to a garage

Ah - you've worked that one out 🙂

I'd guess at a faulty earth somewhere, definitely the most common cause of random electrical gremlins.

Similar problem with my wife's polo. The interior light stayed on after turning the ignition off. Found out that replacing the car stereo caused it! Had to do a little rewiring on the stereo loom.

No other problems whatsoever in about 5 years, I figure bulbs is a pretty small issue. Can't remember when it started to be honest

Disconnect the battery and leave off for 5 mins then reconnect. Obviously make sure you have your radio code before doing this 🙂

Your lighting is controlled by a computer ! There are no door switches to speak of any more so the door sensors turn the lights on and off. Sometimes that processor just gets plain tired 'cos its on all the time. Sometimes it needs to go off to reset settings. Can't guarantee it'll work but it does on Fords.

Its like 'turning it off, and then turning it back on again'..

Sounds to me like it could be the relay latching on when the doors are opened and the ignition is turned on or off. That would be my first port of call to do with the wiring. The courtesy lights come on every time you get in the car and every time you get out, that's a lot of switching. Hopefully its just wear and tear of the contacts.

This needs a scan.
Possible fault in the control module, but more than likely a broken wire down by one of the the door hinges. A scan will point you in the right direction.
