Bit of a random/stealth ad this one.
My elderly father in law passed away last March, I Sorned his T25 and stored it at my workshop.
I've had the conversation with his widow and my wife and they are now happy to see the camper pass on to its next adventure in its life.
It needs work (usual seam&panel rust) and the engine has a problem - it came home on an AA flatbed the last time they went away in it. I didn't have time to look at it as FIL passed away quite suddenly.
We are looking for someone who is wanting to take on a project and use it afterwards, the van is for sale but it would be cheap to the right person.
I'm registering on the 80-90 forum to see if there is any interest there.
It's a 90/91 year, grp high top, 1.6NA watercooled diesel, can't remember the original converter but 3 way fridge, rock N roll bed, gas hob, etc
Mods please delete if not appropriate.
Where are you, my boy is sixteen and thinking of a project.
His uncle is a farmer and has a full workshop with lift etc.
A mate of mine restores vintage campers so has the know how.
It might just work...
Regardless of who buys it, we need pics... Make it part of the deal.... Pics of build or no sale...
They all travel on AA flatbeds 😉
Sorry, nothing useful to add.
Those 1.6na diesels are really rugged engines. We had three mk1 Caddys from new. The one I took to Orkney had 180,000 miles on it when the salt air consumed the body, the engine was as strong as can be, I should have saved it. Another did a sixty mile commute to Edinburgh and a few miles around town every day for fifteen years or more. I used to use it to ferry our mountain bikes every weekend to Glencoe or the Cairngorms. The odometer stopped working at 260,000. Â I made a point of changing the oil, air and fuel filters regularly, and the timing belt when it was required. Cheap as chips to run. They might be a bit underpowered in a Transporter.
I'll post a few pics hopefully tomorrow. Thanks for the interest and I've replied to everyone who has emailed.
It was slow but it got them everywhere eventually and never let them down. They did Perpignan for the summer and came home via the central Millau bridge route. The climb up in our Volvo was brutal - I couldn't believe the camper got up but it did.
We used to go camping with them, me and Mrs RNP in our old roof tent equipped Defender, the parent in-laws in the VW, always banter about who was going to break down first! Good memories of it.
Hiya RNP - pm'd you.
