Any tips? Yes, I should probably go register for a VW forum but I'm lazy.

Caddy maxi life so "hatchback" rather than side opening doors. It does a few wipes then slows right down and gets stuck and doesn't go back to the 'rest' position.

Knackered motor? Corroded bushing? is it worth trying to take it apart a bit and spraying on a load of WD40?

Does it still do it with the blade off the glass?

On my BMW tourer this happened and it was down to the wires into the door being damaged.

interesting. so enough power gets through for a while but then it struggles? I guess the wires could be failing after 10+ years of flexing.

the park started getting iffy to start with then went altogether then the wipe itself became a bit erraticand would just stop in random places (I assume as a result of the park being broken/intermittently connected).

Being a BMW it was a pain to fix - I ended up getting a replacement loom bit from the czech republic and splicing it in.

I’ve replaced two wiper motors on on Audi A4 estates for the same reason. I think the motor eats itself as the electric housing is in the same body as the water pipe so maybe a leak causes it. In any case I sourced my motor from here www.ws-autoteile.com and replaced it myself. You’ll need a wiper arm removal tool and plenty of WD40 as no doubt it’ll be stuck on.

Had the same as Albanach - water feeds through the motor then up inside the wiper and sprays onto the window from the wiper rather than from jets like the front windows. grit gets stuck in the pipe at the bend (where the motor is), causes a leak as pressure builds every time you operate the washer so kills the motor. Mine's would work intermittently for a a couple of weeks before dying completely. If caddy has the same design then same problem
