Having to change our car and looking at a Passat estate, diesel. Changing from a lovely V6 petrol engine and enjoy a nice engine ... so is a V6 TDi preferable to a 1.9 TDi or is there not much difference? And any real world fuel/mpg comaprisons?
Thanks
I have a 1.9TDi 130 and it goes really well, I have heard that the V6 TDi isn't actually as smooth(believe it or not).
Parkers will have comparisons on figures.
The 2.0 TDi 140bhp is lovely.. silky smooth and silent ont he motorway. Flat torque until it picks up at higher revs. Also goes to 200bhp with a remap.
i guess you are talking about the previous shape!1
if so do not get the v6 tdi as isnt much quicker than the 1.9tdi and its a lot thirstier and rougher!!
If he's looking at the 1.9pd and 2.5 v6, he's after the older shape one? I had the 2.5 v6 and test drove it b2b with the 1.9pd. I thought it was smoother, revved more easily and was of course more powerful.
It's abit heavier on the juice tho compared to the 1.9d. Mine was a saloon and the combo was great fun to drive. I've continued with VAG motahs since albeit currently in 2.7 tdi guise.
