I thought STW would be the best port of call for some advice.
I've got a small garden maintenance business, just invested in an '04 2.5 VW Combi to use for work and also XC racing/weekends with family etc.
Can anyone recommend a good value insurer for business cover and private?
Any pitfalls to look out for and any idea how much i should be paying, 46 yr old with clean licence, no convictions, no claims etc etc.
Thanks all in advance!
direct line have been good for me. insured a van for work and also s,d&p. can also transfer no claims from car to van and back again, which i don't think many insurers do ( if anyone else at all ). they were competitive, the price fluctuated but never just kept going up ( max NCD ), and moving from the van and changing back to a car took a phone call and an adjustment for cost.
NFU. Pay about £300 a year for my 2005 T5 kombi.
Try A-plan.. especially if its modified
Everyone I know with a van is with Brentacre
Cheers all, I've used Aplan before and they were pretty good, van is un-modified.
NFU have been mentioned before too.
Does it cover any tool costs and are there any limitations?
Cheers
Used brentacre for t4 caravelle. Easy to deal with and not bothered about modifications - Adrian Flux were awkward and more expensive and direct line wouldn't insure as I was removing one of back seats, it was apparently too big a mod!
Aviva had the best price for my t5 kombi for sdp & commuting.
I just use the Meerkats to compare, though A plan have come out top there a couple of times.
Aviva were far cheaper than everyone else for me!
Also with Brentacre. As long as mods dont significantly increase power and value they don't increase cost.
Brentacre here with my mildly tickled with T5 - have been with them for years paying less than £400 pa. Weirdly they couldn't get anywhere near other insurers for my boggo standard Mini Clubman.
I went with the Meercats for an 03 T4 and took the cheapest option, Brentacre etc were all way more expensive for me.
Aviva for me, all the specialists are really faffy and the prices not that great. Their customer service via live chat is brilliant as well.
Cheers all, went with Direct line and paid about £220. Seemed ok.
Thanks for suggestions
