Anyone know anything more about this? I see that they are doing a fly past at Carlisle then onto East Fortune. I live halfway between the two and trying to work out timings, route and altitude so I know whether or not I need to travel to see it or will it just fly over my house.
Thanks
Looks like they're going to post times and routes on the website closer to the day. Probably not totally helpful, at this point! It flew more or less over my house last time it was up here, cooler seeing it in the wild than in captivity I thought.
I created a twitbag account for the purpose primarily of tracking the vulcan. It's the best source of live and emerging info because as an antique things don't always go to plan.
She put on a fantastic show at Weston on Sunday, looks like they've decided that, as she's being retired, there's no point holding back on the throttles to spare the engines, so there was a decent amount of good steep climb-outs, banks, and the Vulcan Howl. 😀
From newsletter email just received -

Think they are updating website on Friday with route map and more accurate timings
Hoping to see this saturday. Does anyone know the take off direction from Doncaster? I would either go and see it somewhere near Doncaster or somewhere near York. Any knowledge gratefully received? The fact it gets from Doncaster to Scarborough in 23 minutes means it will be moving at speed. (bit excited!!!).
Depends on the wind direction at he time.
I believe its flying from Cosford to east midlands airport tomorrow over Cannock at 15.30
I'll be watching
Hopefully see it from Helvellyn tomorrow win win 😀
Looks like the camera's going into work tomorrow and see if I can get to Woodford.

Flight maps are up
http://www.vulcantothesky.org/salute-to-the-v-force-tour.html
How do these things work then, are the waypoints just that, a quick bank and onto the next leg, or is there any loitering? And what sort of altitude does it travel at? I'm tempted to work being at one of the waypoints into my day tomorrow, but if it's just for a glimpse, it wouldn't really be worth it.
I'm going to head over to east miss airport tomorrow I think. Still can't believe I've not seen it flying yet. Been to see it a couple of times and it's not shown up for various reasons.
Also just seen that its last scheduled display is at the victory show at Cosby which is literally a couple of miles up the road from me. It's been there before and done simulated low level bomb runs and all sorts of stuff. It's one of the place I've been to see it and it's not arrived. Hopefully it will make it this year. You can watch the display from the public park in Cosby as its right next to the event. They have brilliant air displays.
The flight plan has it passing my house if it sticks to a dead straight line between places. Even with the slight chance of it being low I'll be waiting on a local hilltop tomorrow afternoon
doh....where is that? We are all after places to view this magnificent aircraft!
According to Flight plan up there ^ it's passing by Melrose about 14:10-14:15 I'll be up one of the eildons hoping for a good view.
We're heading up to the top of winter hill to watch it come over. Should've an ideal vantage point
For CHB:
Locals at Doncaster either view from the runway end at High Common Lane off the A638 Bawtry Road, or more from the side of the runway oppposite the terminal buildings. You can get at this either from an access road at the roundabout on High Common Lane or the other end coming down Old Bawtry Road in Finningley village. (They don't meet in the middle for cars but you can walk or bike it.)It will get busy so I'd recommend parking up a mile or two away and biking, or just bike here, takes about half an hour from town.
Depending on wind and where they're heading, it takes off north to south more often, so with it using only a third of the runway, folks at the southern runway end only get a distant view as she banks away eastward after takeoff. If they do it the other way round you can stand at the fence and feel the engine blast and taste the fuel, which is nice.
With there being a display planned, there might be more stuff than usual at the passenger terminal, there is a Vulcan shop, a viewing gallery and a resturant with runway views, none of which requires a boarding pass.
Thanks!
Just off out in about an hour to try and see it come over the Moors above Belmont.
Am also going to head up to either Rivington or Belmont direction - anyone worked out the expected fly past time?
^^^ 14:23 over Carlisle airport, 15:00 over Barton, so I reckon 14:50? over Belmont/Winter Hill.
Going to have a ride over Darwen Tower & Lions Den shortly, so hopefully I'll see it.
Just arrived at Cosford in time to get an impromptu display from a hurricane! Nice! (Is it weird to litterally get goosebumps from the sound of a plane flying over?)

Fleeting glimpse at Winter Hill. Amazing!
Just gone over bruntwood park in stockport
Was in Woodford to see this wonderous dot in the distance, not all bad news as I got to hear it from behind some trees.
Underwhelmed. 🙁
Weve just cycled back from Lyme park, where we had amazing views.
Watched it circle Broughton, then Barton, did a low flyover Manchester airport, coming low over Alderley Edge, banking Woodford and off towards the Midlands. Brilliant!
A little boy shouts has it got bombs on dad?
Took my completely uninterested daughter to see it at Newark Air Museum. Quite sad to realise that I may never again hear that magnificent roar from the 4 Olympus engines as it points it's nose skyward and gives it all the beans.

Wonderful mini display at Cosford, literally spine tingling. And the finale climb out and roll were spectacular. Set of several car alarms, too...
Hopefully you got a good view Frank, based on where it was over us it must have pretty much come straight over your house 🙂
I headed up the Eildons, cracking view, i was dead chuffed.

You should have walked down to Avro golf course with everyone else. She flew right over our heads. Mrs. Oldman was strangely moved by the experience. Huge thanks to the lovely lady who invited us to park on her drive in Woodford. You are a star Ma'am.
Earlier we were out on the mountainbikes doing a loop from Rivi to the rocketship above Darwen,on the way back as we were on the dam wall at Roddlesworth reservoir, the Vulcan made an appearance.I guess that's the last time we'll see it in flight 😥
Managed to get a decent view from the M62 near Barton Airfield earlier. The sound was impressive.

I should have followed my instinct and headed for Adlingtom Ind Est as was the original plan, but the traffic heading into Poynton was typically a nightmare. Not to worry, I had my aircraft desires satisfied many years ago at Lyneham and Binbrook.
I guess that's the last time we'll see it in flight ?
It's doing another half dozen displays this year at least. Flight certification expires in autumn. Have a look at the Vulcan to the Sky website.
The second half of its V Tour is today.

POSTED 15 HOURS AGO #
Me the missus and the dogs where sitting on the top of the middle eildon, was nice of them to fly right over the top of us
14:26 on the nose, right over our house in Leigh on Sea. Amazing.
Saw it today at the Swansea Airshow, it put on a great display. 🙂
I was just eating a bacon sarnie this afternoon when the Vulcan went past my window as it headed down towards the Swansea airshow.
It put on a great display.
But then the speed and noise was turned up to the max as the Typhoon came in.
Thread bump: if anyone is interested, the Vulcan is displaying at the Blackpool Airshow this Sunday. 2.30pm
http://www.visitblackpool.com/listing/blackpool-airshow-2015-675160/
Routeing now available for today's flight - might be of interest if anyone's riding in the Dales or NYMoors.
https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=zJoGZd3-Qg5U.k3HlP1j9f5Ic
I reckon that'll mean Skipton around 1400-1410 then Settle-Leyburn between 1440-1450. Should be a great sight with that thing VMC across the Dales!
Yes! Just saw it over Skipton 2 mins ago. Awesome. Heading NWish.
Was on route to Blackpool. Parked up in chipping too watch it come over.
Awesome.
We were having lunch at naburn when it came over us very low - we weren't really expecting it and could hear something behind the building then it emerged. Rather impressive. A bit north of the route on the map.
Watched it break the tower (ala Top Gun) in Blackpool , sounded and looked amazing , The Typhoon was brilliant
Funny this thread should resurface tonight. My Dad worked at AV Roe throughout the 50's and claims to have worked on every B1 type Vulcan that was built. I showed him that same video that I posted above tonight on my phone and I swear he actually had a little tear in his eye.
Had I known that it was flying at Blackpool today I'd have taken him over to see it.
Whilst it's an amazing site to see (and hear!), I'm rather glad the reason it won't be flying any more is it's worn out, not that it has "done its job"...
Rachel
I was quite disappointed I missed this a few months ago BUT...
The Vulcan is flying at Cosby in Leicestershire tomorrow as part of the Victory Show.
Not sure of exact time but thought it was worth a PSA.
http://www.thevictoryshow.co.uk/
I'm going to head over on the roadie - gives me a good reason to do a nice 40 miler 😉
You sure about that? It's at the Scottish Air Show static display tomorrow after doing its moves in Ayr today.
its at cosby tomorrow afternoon for a full display, barring issues anyway. looking forward to it.
Here's today show:
Ah yeah, departs Prestwick mid afternoon.
Missing the whole thing, ***** minimal manning requirements 👿
I'm at work until 3. might need to shut up early.
watched it take off earlier

and will go to The Victory show tomorrow as well, where i am looking forward to seing the Meteor as well.
Can'd find any info on the times the Vulcan is doing it's thing....anyone know?
Imagine it will be lateish as up in Scotland most of the day.
No Vulcan at Cosby tomorrow. Has a fault so is going straight back to Doncaster. Bugger.
She flew past the Isle of Man airport this afternoon. It was good to see her one last time.
Arse!
Was looking forward to that.
Probably never see it in the air now 😥
We went to see the Vulcan at Carlisle Aviation Museum today, brilliant!!
What wasn't brilliant was being told we weren't allowed in the pilots seat anymore because people had been stealing things, someone had actually taken one of the "peeing pipes"! Utter ****ers!

This.
You could see there was a problem today! I had pretty sizeable binoculars on the go and could see that the nose wheel didn't look like it was down properly, then it just kept circling the airport for a while (which then led to the "air traffic delay"). Only mentioned it quietly to the old boy, obviously not the sort of thing you want to announce after recent events. Was shitting myself about it tbh
It was a tad disappointing today, flown very conservatively compared to last year. Understandable though, but still. Where were you watching from Legend?.
Part 1 is was just beside the Daily Record bus, part 2 a bit further north.
Crackin day for it. The Typhoon was as impressive as expected, the Draken was top notch too though!
I could watch the typhoon all day, it's incredible. We were stood pretty much next to you.
Back home Prestwick-Doncaster today, wheels down all the way. Take-off 15.30, landing 16.30.
Hope they can fettle the undercarriage ok to do the last few shows, but I'm off to see her landing today just in case it's her last.

Ah ****
It would head south rather than the north loop 🙁
Oh well, that was that then...
Back she came, five circuits of the field, brakes out, burning fuel.

I've never seen my kids look as shocked as when the typhoon appeared when they were happily playing on the beach yesterday, genuine awesome terror.
Think we saw a Vulcan flying down Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales this afternoon
Disappointed quite a few people at Cosby this afternoon by letting them know the Vulcan wasn't turning up.
A bit poor really that they were still telling people at the gate that it *might* show up but not to count on it, when the no show was confirmed yesterday.
Flew a few miles West of Penrith (junction 40 m6) at 1604hrs noticed the wheels were down.
Went up and watched a few planes at Cosby this afternoon. Disappointed an anorak type who was there to see the Vulcan. Such a shame it didn't make it because it was a beautiful afternoon.
Finally…was near Lutterworth yesterday and heard the sound of a plane sounding like it was worryingly low…rushed out to see what the hell it was - caught the Vulcan for all of 2-3 secs in a banking turn through a clearing in some trees before it disappeared from sight again. Looked and sounded bloody brilliant - I think I shouted 'Bloody hell it's the Vulcan!' or something - loads of people rushed out all excited too 🙂
