You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
After reading the porn thread, the topic of using VPN’s has popped up. So what’s everyone using these days? Any recommendations? Desktop/mobile versions? I like the idea of a click and forget version that runs all the time, but isn’t slow. Possible?
I’ve not used one for ages, think cyberghost was the last one I used.
Popped a link in the other thread to the best of the month, depends what you are trying to achieve with it, if it's just browsing form elsewhere then it's easier if your trying ot use it to get to Netflix US or Iplayer abroad then it's a bit whackamole in terms of IP's getting turned off.
I think for me: it’s a bit of healthy paranoia, and insurance. Hiding my activity from the man/ISP. Don’t want technology to betray me. Who knows what governments will get voted in, or crazy laws will get passed in the future. As a culture, we do seem to be getting slowly less liberal/more puritanical, and I don’t want to get a life sentence because I once searched for ‘boobs’ or ‘magic mushrooms’ on the internet...
That sounds completely crazy reading it back 😁. I’m not a tinfoil-hat wearing stoner honestly. I’ll probably forget I even wrote this in an hour or so.

No paranoia regarding what the VPN provider is (or would be) harvesting from you then?
Oh indeed DezB. Which is why i’m opening it up for discussion. I mean, one could use TOR all the time. But it’s slow, and i’m not quite that paranoid/crazy.
It’s interesting. The internet just works better if you’re fully transparent. Always signed in to google etc. Try using DuckDuckGo for example, you soon miss google, well I did anyway.

Yup, the BBC seem to have upped the ante in the last day or so. Had to resort to more old fashioned methods from certain Swedish maritime buccaneer docks. Utterly futile on their part, and what's more, if they'd just let me pay them directly I'd happily do so!
I use PIA, and I have it set up on individual PCs rather than the router, so that it can be switched off and on when needed.
It is not slow, I am using BT fibre, and get near enough the same speedtest result and download speed with it on or off, just slightly higher latency.
Been a NordVPN user for a couple of years now. I think it was £70 for 2 years and 6 devices. Loads of servers, including ones for P2P/Video/Everything Else. Very easy to use and no complaints here, really good speeds on P2P too.
Channel Hopper is great for us in Germany... all the UK terrestrial channels and €5 per month
F Secure Freedome, got it on my phones, IPAD's and laptops.
But, the Opera browser has a free built in VPN which I use on my works laptop.
