Just found out my mums cancer is back, she had it a while back and had her kidney removed and its now came back in the space left. Too dangerous to operate on, apparantly. So she'll be going on to this drug in the next few weeks to control the cancer, but not get rid of it.
Now its early days I just found out last night. But is this as bad as it sounds. Or is it possible that the cancer can be controlled long term?
I'm not asking for a prognosis or anything, just curious if anyone has any experience of the above drug. I'm being told that the drug will eventually stop working, what happens after that?
I'd say you'd want to speak to her doctor about it. I did a similar thing when my mum had cancer, but all my "research" did was worry me more. It's human nature to focus on things that confirm/appease our fears, regardless of how relevant they are.
We set up a meeting with her doctor so that I could hear it all first hand and ask questions. Best hour I could have spent and really helped me to help my mum, which is what it's all about.
I hope your mum's treatment works.
