Everyone else is opening car threads, so I shought I would too. 🙂
Looking to change my car and am quite taken by the V60. Reckon I'll be waiting until next summer for depreciation to settle a bit. Seems like a nice premium choice, better value than German motors and comparitively cheap.
I fancy the D5, for some oomph. Any experiences?
No kids, but the versatility of an estate would be great. Looks like better value than a BMW/Audi and more reliable. I'm not convinced by the corrosion resistance on Audis and the 3 series interior is pretty nasty, though admittedly I haven't actually driven one.
I was very recently considering one as new company car. currently have a BMW 3 tourer and in comparison the Volvo seemed a bit funkier, more kit, but not as nice a drive. Seats also seemed quite high up, even at lowest setting.
these smallish 'sports tourers' aren't proper estates though, and we have found the BMW a bit small with kids and all their crap when going away for weekends and holidays etc, so I ended up going for something a bit bigger.
I've got a '11 Mondeo estate and my 2 previous cars were 3 series tourers. I test drove loads of cars before I got the Ford, including a V60. It looked good, comfy inside, but not in the same league as the 3 series or Mondeo to drive. My only gripe with the Mondeo is the sheer size and the fact that it isn't as fantastically economical as the BMWs. It's the 163BHP 2 litre. Next car? Mondeo or 3 series!
The reviews are okay but not great (I considered one recently).
But they *are* great to look at, as is the V40 - an even nicer car IMO.
The V40 is very nice, but I reckon I'll be priced out, as it's just been released.
The way I look at it is I could get a much lower mileage V60 compared same money on an Audi/BMW, with a better spec too. But the engine/ride maybe not as strong.
I do like spirited driving on occasion, but practicality and comfort are more important. Economy important too, I was seriously considering a 3 Series but was underwhelmed once I actually sat in one.
I guess a test drive will be in order.
