The first youtube video that I've never spam clicked the skip ad countdown button for....

Feels like a well timed face mask troll as well! Good to see idiot opinions are not a recent phenomena and I thought the use of cameras to judge whether a driver is distracted/drunk is rather brilliant if a little Orwellian. I've started to care less about privacy though based on how many outright ****ing prats there are on the road.

Very powerful advert.
Re cameras, we have multiple cameras fitted to our buses, including’eyeguard’
Which is an attention monitor.
Regardless of anyone’s opinion, they are proven to reduce accidents.
They also protect drivers from false claims being made.
I have had several completely false claims made against me, including that i was smoking (i have never smoked)
Also an allegation that i was playing with my phone whilst driving (proven to be untrue by cctv)
Tech isn’t just to incriminate people, it protects us too.

Very good ad and agreed on the subtle face mask message, possibly the vaccine coming up too?

The thing is we as humans don't like change, seat belts, new buildings, new wheel standards, face masks and anything else.

Nice video. I particularly liked those initial reactions to seatbelts.

I remember going to the Volvo museum on the outskirts of Gothenburg in 2011, and being very surprised that there was no mention at all of 2 facts that I knew about in advance:
1) That they invented the 3-point seatbelt. And reputedly didn't patent it deliberately to encourage others to adopt it and improve safety standard across the industry (not sure if there's a credible source for that last bit, but the invention alone would be worthy of a mention).
2) The world record for highest mileage is a Volvo P1800S owned by some guy in the US (now on over 3 million miles, but I think the owner died recently so I'm not sure how quickly it's still racking up the miles)

1) they did patent it, but made it freely available

2)its plate is mlnmilr, or similar

I also knew those, and not because they were mentioned in the Volvo museum when I was there in 2017 and 18... which they are.

A big up for seatbelts.
I was driving before they became compulsory. My girlfriend nagged me to use them so I often but not always did.
Driving to the studio mid morning one sunny day I wound down the window and the non inertia reel belt in my Escort started flapping.
Rather than tie it off I put it on. 3 corners later an Audi pulled out in front of me at a T-junction and I hit him just behind the front wheels.
My Escort now extended about a foot infront of the base of the windscreen.
The pedal, engine and steering column came back to me ****ing my right ankle and smacking ribs, collar bones and cracking my sternum in a few place.
No belt and I would be dead.

Some of those comments at the start about being thrown clear and the like echoed part of what I felt before this happened. Madness now I think about it.
I still however don't wear a helmet on every ride. Go figure.

Used to be some fella called Jimmy persuading us to belt up, back in the 70s eh? Who'd a thunk it.

My question is though - ok these seatbelts, this in car camera stuff to prevent deaths.. there is also an existing technology which would do the same, maybe prevent even more deaths than the other 2 I think. I can't understand why electric cars don't have it.
Black box technology. I have one in my car, just to measure the mileage for my insurance, but it does log my speed. My son has one that measures a lot more and logs it to his insurance company. It doesn't actually stop him speeding, but it will cost him money if he does. He's been completely safe in his first year of driving and I put this down to the black box.
If all drivers had to have them, surely this (how did they put it in that video?) "violation of human rights"? which is how the majority would see it, would be worth it?

@dezb
Interesting point, I have a dashcam fitted to my car, and it records speed and g forces, it does make me think about my driving, just in case i was in an accident, even innocently.
