I have been signed up for a car rally to Venice in September which should be fun.
I was thinking it would be a good excuse to raise some money for charity but I hate those "Sponsor me to do something I want to do and am doing anyway" requests. I was thinking of something like a pay to subscribe Video Log / streaming thing so people can feel warm and cuddly about giving money to charity while watching a prat try and get his car to hold together for the trip across Europe and back.

I don't want to use my normal MyFans sex streaming set up as that has a different set of clients and is hard wired into the dungeon so not suitable for a road trip.
What is the best way to set up something like this and what kit and infrastructure do I need?
More interestingly, what car are you doing it in ?
I mean the E111 isn't in play now. This could be expensive.
My first thought was how badly WCA will get injured live on air. Maybe by holding a camera out of the window?
On equipment, I think a lot of the people that do this professionally use mirrorless DSLRs with prime lenses that can do 4k video. Mics are Rode and wireless (or similar).
GoPro does have the "Mediamod" option for the 9 and 10, but then you are leaving yourself open to the limitations of the lenses. They are very convenient in size though and would be easier to mount and charge. You can also frame using the app on your mobile. DJI have a gimballed camera called the Pocket that might work as well.
Talking of gimbals, DJI do the Osmo and there's another one I have used in the past called the "Crane" or something(?) by another manufacturer. It worked well with the Fuji DSLR that was hooked up to it at the time.
I can ask around at work and see what people recommend, but it's going to end up being a 4k DSLR with a 50mm f1.4 prime lens and that's going to cost.
I'd lean towards getting the content to as many people as possible to drive donations, rather than pay to watch. If you include some sections about the charity, what it means to you, what good it does for others, then in my view you'll get more donating.

You could price up that camera, lens and mounting gear and donate that money straight to charity, cut out the middle man and save yourself a lot of faff.
I guess it hinges on what your intentions / expectations are. If you want to take a bit of souvenir footage and hopefully raise a few quid along the way, you don't need a 4k video camera to record something that'll likely be watched in a window 3" across. On the other hand, if you're planning on being the next David Attenborough / Top Gear presenter / 'influencer' and making thousands in the process then more professional kit might be justified. I wonder if it's the sort of thing you can hire?
And, what beej said. A 'pay to subscribe' video is going to attract about six people, even long-established feeds can't sustain that model. We live in an era were people will throw over a thousand pounds at the latest phone and then balk at paying 69p for an app. You'd maybe have more success with something like Patreon or finding an advertiser / sponsor.
Yeah, for something like this I don’t think you need top kit or even to know what you’re doing… if what you’re filming is interesting/exciting/dramatic/amusing and you’re reasonably engaging & enthusiastic then that’ll shine through. Otherwise it’ll be shit, no matter how many 8k gimbals you have.
I’d put more effort into finding someone you can email all the raw footage off to every day, who can edit it quickly to make it look short & snappy then post it up for you.
I’m sure a couple of go-pros will be fine. The newest iPhone pro max, if you have one, shoots incredible video and does some nice tricks like DOF for you automatically. If you’ve got a suitable operator (not you) then a few drone shots used sparingly would add a bit of visual interest I think, especially if you’re going somewhere with nice scenery.
Probably the biggest thing you’ll get out of it will be, how to do it better next time, so just got for it!!
Wise words.
It's the age-old "how do I get visitors to my website?" question really, isn't it. You can have all the snake-oil SEO in the world, but the real answer is "have content that people want to read / watch."

Pretty much this. If it were me, I'd be using my Hero 4 on a stick, but I have no idea how good the sound would be with a nugget car in the background. I'd also not be too sad if it got knackered either. It's paid its dues.
More this : If you want to take a bit of souvenir footage and hopefully raise a few quid along the way
than this : if you’re planning on being the next David Attenborough / Top Gear presenter / ‘influencer’
Scrap the pay per view and go for simple begging with explanation of why it matters
Some simple semi-scripted direct uploads from phone with external mike and some better stuff edited properly to make it more watchable.
Pick up a cheap camera, fixings and a selfi-stick to supplement the hand held phone stuff
Thanks

That is sort of what I first asked but opinion seemed that it would take a rather larger fan base than I enjoy (Hi Mum) to make it pay
Are you bored enough to watch a car based snuff film?
