Moods taken a slight turn and I've been thinking about taking this for a few winters but never got around to it.
Some of the suppliers doses seem well above recommended levels, with from what I've read negative effects from taking too much?
Solvar or someone like that would be the usual go to. Diet is pretty good with decent fresh fruit and veg but not sure that's relevant for D3
For those taking what doses are you on? Obvs too little would just be a waste of money
I would do your own research. I’ve taken a dose some would consider too high for past 10 years.
Getting tested could be a good starting point.

3000IU a day but I'm doing it at the instruction of a neurologist. As far as I'm aware as long as it's s reputable company (i.e. not putting other random stuff in it) it makes no difference who makes the product, d3 is d3.
I just take a cod liver oil tablet which contains is 100% of the d3 RDA.
1000 units per day when the clocks go back, all year round if you’ve got darker skin.
4,000 IU per day, every day.
Scottish Highlands...
Mrs S had that recommendation from her consultant during and after cancer treatment and we've followed it since.
I just buy whatever the basic supermarket one is, and I’ve found I need an extra 50µg (2009 IU) in the summer and 75µg (3000 IU) in the winter. This is on top of the 10µg (400 IU) RDA of Vit D that’s in the multivitamin I take.
Mackerel and herring if you like fish, 100% Vit D RDI.
Scottish-smoked fish is available in Aldi and Lidl for not too much and are generally much lower in mercury than tuna, for example.

8000iu with k2.
It’s a fat soluble vitamin (so is k) so needs to be taken with fatty food.
4,000 IU per day, every day.

Have I got my maths wrong, or is 4000IU about 20 times the RDI?
Get your blood tested first and then you can get advice on dosage. Too much Vit D is potentially very harmful.
5 times. RDA is 800 IIRC
Its difficult but possible to take too much. Some of these larger doses would raise eyebrows amongst many doctors
I have no doubt that i feel better if I take it - I take 1000iu a day. My fingernails are growing much faster as well. I am evangelical about its benefits. Its cheap. Chances of harm are low, most of us will be deficient in the UK

Just looked it up, it's 600iu/15microgram. Looks the Tesco cod liver oil tabs that say they have 100% don't really (they have 5microgram)

Time to up our dosage.
It's rather annoying that all the ones on amazon are like 3-5000mg when ~800 is RDA. Does taking a 3/5000 every few days count? Or is the initial high dose what does the damage (chronically, say if one was to take it regularly Nov-March every year for a decade....)
I take an d3/k2/omega3 capsule every morning in winter, IMO I realy doubt the effivercy when it isn't already in oil.
Also look for many when the dosage is actually multible tablets/capsules (although that may allow you to lower the dose if it worries you).
600iu/15microgram
NHS website says 10microgram/400iu & not to exceed 10x that amount.
Or is the initial high dose what does the damage
No, initial loading dose on NHS for osteoporosis is 50000iu once a week for 6 weeks. <br />Everybody’s requirement is different but on the NHS, pretty much everyone who is prescribed it receives 800iu per day. Bear in mind this is for osteoporosis prevention and not any other benefits. I would imagine most studies are also based on this.

you should see some of the doses of other drugs that I (and I suspect chvck as we have the same condition) have taken. That would give you a right scare!!
Personally I take enough tablets everyday that I’m not going to take another tablet unless directed to.
4000iu daily. Age 60, fit and healthy but according to doc, on the other end of the phone, at death's door...
Thanks all, this is where my question came from RDI was around 600-800 but many brands were stating 4000+ for general use.
May do a test if I can get over my needle phobia! I know it's only a finger prick test but the thought to me is similar!!
I take these Vit D3 4000iu with K2 every day, just had my levels checked as part of my MS checkup and levels are very healthy

Not really, anything up to 13000iu is acceptable according to latest research if you are in a northern climate.
10000 IU a day...I suffer from chronic uticaria and aside from steroids or a couple of weeks on a Greek island (neither of which are sustainable) it's the only thing that keeps it in check.
Although not conclusive https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/vitamin-d-and-vitamin-k
Had read the K2 thing, I've not had an extensive search but seemed to be paired with very high RDA
Re k2 this is a good video from a cardiologist
