VirginMedia tv box sound/picture sync issues

Had to upgrade to a new VM box as the old one packed up. Now can't get an accurate sync between the picture and sound whatever I try. Have been through the Sony tv sound sync menu and needs to be at a minus ms setting by the look of it. It will only go to zero or a plus reading which makes it worse.
Has anyone come across this and fixed it? Trying to speak to VM is obviously more painful than pulling your own eyes out (and takes up to 24 hours!)

Have you tried the Virgin On-line Community pages as there's often helpful advice on there?

Are you connecting via a HDMI, or HDMI and digital optical cable or similar?

Well, we were going VM box hdmi into the arc hdmi port and optical cable. Popped into Currys in desperation this morning and a tech expert sorted me out - very impressed!
He said to go hdmi from the soundbar into the hdmi arc port, vm cable into any other hdmi port and it woukd fix the delay. All sorted 👍

We’ve had the issue for a couple of years, still follow a thread on the support forum with people complaining about it. However, for us, the issue suddenly fixed earlier this year after I’d given up ever being able to sort it despite trying all sorts of suggested fixes.

@Bullet could you please clarify how you sorted this. Since I bough a Sonos Beam I've had lip sync issues on certain channels and just can't seem to get it sorted (there's no sync issues on streaming services). I've messed around with countless settings and nothings seems to work. The Beam is connected to the TV by HDMI ARC and the VM box to the TV by regular HDMI

Thanks

@typer what brand is your TV? I have a Sony TV and was having horrible lip sync issues with the Beam on broadcast tv when the streaming services were absolutely fine (all built in I should so, no external boxes). It was changing a particular sound setting that fixed it, I can probably go and look up which one it was if there was any chance they would be the same.

@soundninjauk it's a toshiba, but I'd imagine there's an equivalent setting to your Sony (though probably called something different)

I finally found the manual for our Sony soundbar and have changed things again.
Soundbar to tv by highspeed hdmi cable to the arc hdmi port on the tv.
Virgin box into another hdmi port on the soundbar.
Smartlinked the sub to the soundbar as per instructions.

Everything properly synced now...

@Typer I think it may be the vm box to tv that's your problem. Sound has to go through the tv and then to the Beam which may cause a delay? I have only learnt this over the last couple of days!
Let me know hiw it goes if you connect the vm bix to the Beam
