Just been offered one with a 30mb upgrade after a quick moan about their impending price increase, quick check on here (my first port of call for any technical queries) and Google reveals all is not 'super'.

So have they fixed yet or am I destined for an afternoon of frustration?

Keep using your existing router and just have the Superhub as a modem would be my advice.

Just set it to Modem mode and continue using your current router

My one is fine but they can be a bit iffy on signal strength. Get full signal near it but drops to around half 10 meters away and with a couple of walls in between..

Cheers guys, had read that may be the way forward.

So in this configuration I'll get faster internet but no performance increase with the WiFi?

you coudl give it a go but I'd be prepared to give up after an hour or so and revert to current router - I lost nearly half a days work trying to get mine sorted to run both wired and wi-fi before I worked out it wasn't my fault.

Any scope in setting it up as intended and using the old router as a repeater?

My hub has worked perfectly since I got it in August. Much prefer it to the old one.

Mine works fine and was easy to set up. Signal is stronger than the old router i had from virgin.

depends if your old router allows itself to be used as a repeater, tbh.

Quick Google suggests so, I think I have a plan.

Set up as intended, if crap try to add the old router as a repeater.

If still not good, use in modem mode with old router.

Cheers.

default answer in these threads - if your router doesnt do something then DD-WRT it!

As it goes my superhub is pretty good

yeah, I've got one, signal strength is not great. Virgin are releasing a new one early next year to replace the not so super hub

My SuperHub has been perfect from day 1. WiFi signal strength is at least as good as the SMC router I was using previously.

Only thing I haven't liked about the super hub is MAC address filtering. There appears to be no facility for allowing only those listed without setting arbitrary access to the web times.

Never had a problem with mine just open up the flood gate settings when you set it up and that's about it really. I have one computer hard-wired, one wireless, one laptop and a nexus 7 all battering the super hub without issue. I can connect to mine half way down the road all be it a short road.
