We've booked flights to New York through travelup flring virgin atlantic/delta. The e-tickets appear to be totally devoid of any information regarding check-in, baggage, etc in fact any info you need to actually get on the flight.
I've logged into Delta and found out that we need to pick our seats, so I've done that.
We haven't provided passport numbers anywhere yet and there doesn't appear to be anywhere to do that.
Do we just take our e-tickets and present our passports at the check in desk?
Normally just tell them my name and hand over passport - though your e-ticket is your ticket, whoa re you flying with and who has issues the ticket - if it's a Virgin flight code then the baggage allowance is the Virgin one, if it's a Delta one then it's theirs - info on the websites.
Thanks Mike, so no need to enter passport numbers anywhere before we get to the airport.
Yes estas are done.
Mine was added to my FF account so passed on through there.
Though if your flying delta that is the least of your problems...

I've flown them a fair bit and had no problems, one of the better US carriers.
one of the better US carriers.
The bar is very low there!!
So footflaps do you just present you passport at check in with no requirement to supply beforehand?
I've not flown to the US for ages, so completely not qualified to comment on this, but I'm sure you would need to have told the airline your passport numbers under the 'Advance Passenger Information' rules https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/advance-passenger-information-you-travel .
I've completed advanced passenger info on the delta site but passport number wasn't required, apart from dob etc the other info was US specific.

I always book via work's travel agency who supply all the details etc for me. I am very surprised you've been able to book with already telling them, the US is supposed to be really hot on pre-validating fliers.
If the country needs a Visa, you often have to present that at check in to prove you have permission to visit (doesn't apply with ESTA and no idea what happens if you haven't got one).
Previously, having done all the preregistering stuff, you will still get somebody with a strange, tablet like contraption asking you more details so I wouldn't worry about it.
Ah that's good, thanks. I'm not worried, my wife is though 🙂

Delta are OK, but AA are waaaaaaay better. United are hideous.

and a [b]printed[/b] copy of your ESTA some airlines don;t seem to have paid for the technology to check from your passport what electronic visas you have and I'd specifically point my finger at Virgin as being guilty
Yeh we've got the esta's printed out, thanks.
and a <strong class="bbcode-strong">printed copy of your ESTA some airlines don;t
Never been asked for proof I had one, although I always carry a copy...
Delta - oddly amongst US carriers (even Virgin) flying out of LHR do passport / visa check at the airport in before the check in desks. They check your ESTA at that point too. As you get nearer the flight Delta will ask you for ESTA and API. You should get a mail with the e-ticket number - I'm surprised you haven't had this?
The whole Virgin / Delta flight share stuff is stil a bit of a mess. At least you can now book on one and choose your flights on the other, which wasn't the case for over a year.
Delta are OK (I've flown with them a lot) and you may be lucky to get a new Dreamliner to US. Also Delta hardly ever upgrade anyone flying transatlantic.
In case you have a bike a Delta booking will leave you with a $150 fee...

I got the e-ticket numbers 24 hours after booking, I used that to get into 'my trip' on delta. Info supplied from travelup has been pretty much non-existent.
Delta haven't asked for esta or api though.
Never had to show a printed copy of an ESTA at any point flying to the States but have always had to inform the airline of my passport number and the expiry date in advance. Most recently flew with BA and before that Virgin both required passport information. Have flown with most of the USA airlines and all wanted passport information in advance.

Well they haven't asked yet, but two weeks to go and nowhere to add it on delta site, onley 'redress' number and Known Traveler Number
When we flew to NY last November, a few days before, our flight was changed from a Virgin flight to a Delta flight. I had booked extra legroom, and despite the fact that the Virgin and Delta planes were the same aircraft type, we couldn't carry over the extra legroom seats or check in online.
The actual flight / Delta experience was ok though. Food seemed decent and there was free wifi for messaging, which Virgin charge extra for.
