I've got some MTB and sailing footage taken with my action cam and I'm thinking of editing it a bit. Mix up the shots a bit, cut out the boring bits, perhaps add some music.

This is purely a silly hobby thing and I don't really want to rush out and spend loads on the best editing software. Also, I have a PC rather than a mac.

Any suggestions, also, where are the best places for background music. I don't want to get into any trouble with copyright etc.

Thanks for any info.

Sorry for the lack of specificity but Moby has a website (or youtube channel) which is just hours, maybe hundreds of hours of free to use music. If you really want to give your videos that "ambient, inoffensive, pompous vegan vibe" and send your wife and kids to sleep extra quick, check it out.

HitFilm Express is very good, very powerful, not too hard to learn and free for the basics. You pay for additional transition packages/add-ons, but the basic free package is still fairly comprehensive.

Windows Movie Maker?

Not fantastically powerful but fairly easy to use.

Just to add a couple of other places, for my music I use a combination of Free Music Archive and Jamendo, its almost all Creative Commons but varying permission levels.
Movie Maker is definitely the way to go.
