Great stuff. Sounds like a trip to hyde park is in order - would make me feel positively young on a board which would be nice!
All power to them.

Jings, that's a very long longboard!

As well as the knee pads and helmet, I'd recommend wearing a pukka biker jacket with the back and elbow protection😊

Pity Hyde Park is a hundred miles away! I’m in the right age group, at 65, my problem at the moment would be trying to sneak a longboard past my g/f! Most things I buy are small and easily snuck into the house/explained away, but not a longboard!
Unless I can arrange a remote pickup...
Or wait until Route One reopens in Bath.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there are very few sensations as satisfying and joyful as just cruising along on a skateboard.

I'm always very happy to see older people continuing to enjoy sport.

I really dislike the attitude, that a lot of people have, where you're supposed to give up sport and sit down and watch telly past a certain age.

I'm 52 and plenty of people look at me like I'm a child simply because I go out for a ride on my bike with no intention to go anywhere or do anything more than practice my trackstand/bunny-hop or wheelies/manuals.

More people should be out doing whatever the hell they like :o)

That's ace!

I still quad skate. I'm 50. We oldies go to our great local rink (or we used too pre-lockdown) on midweek nights as there are few kids, unlike the weekend when I go with my daughters.

There's an old bloke who still skates. He cruises around with a set of headphones on, listening to classical music. We've got chatting to him and he's a lovely fella. He's just always skated and doesn't see himself stopping any time soon. He's 82.

If I make it that long, I hope I'll still be skating at 82

Me at 50 (6 years ago!) - Southsea skatepark's Love the Skatepark day. Not done much in the last few years cos my kid grew out of scootering. Should've kept it going really, but yeah, it does feel wrong without a kid to tag along with

I've told my mum about this, and offered to lend her my deck, but she doesn't seem interested.
