Has anyone here actually got this to work?
Every time I try and pay for something online with my Visa debit I want to throw the laptop out of the window as I lose it due to this stupid bloody security thing. So secure I can't access my own money
I called the bank to ask them to take it off. The answer was no.

Yeah every time except for my Credit Card as I forgot the password and it locked me out, I've still not rang up to get in unlocked.

Never had a problem with it either. As long as you have a password for it, what's the problem (apart from forgetting your password)?

Just does not let be pay. It is the right password.

Works fine unless you are a total mong and can't remember your password, or until my wife uses it.... 😉

I think it's not us forgetting the password.
It's verified by Visa.

What browser do you use?

IE should be fine.

If you have NoScript on Firefox then you need to allow it.

A lot of mine seem to be automated as well, now.

I guess it either recognised the computer, or it was just being bypassed now.

Maybe certain sites are trusted, Tesco/Amazon etc, and it's only specialist sites that need user interaction.

I use chrome.
Not sure if royal mail is classed as specialist
I for one seek no gratification in envelopes and stamps

It's automated with my credit card, debit card needs password though. I always make sure to open a Chrome incognito window (disables ad-block etc), had problems with Sagepay before too.

Ring your card issuer (bank) and ask them how it can be sorted.

IIRC VbV doesn't need a password if both your card issuer and the people you're trying to pay are registered (which of course you don't know) - it does it automatically

If only one party is registered, you will need to enter your password, so for some sites you'll need it, others you won't.

I've found the way round it is to click on the forgot password tab every time. It only asks for your DOB and any other details already on the card. Hardly secure!

VbV is 5h1te, and at one point had pretty much no security whatsoever. Allowed anyone who had access to the numbers (which aren't exactly invisible) to register their email address, and hence all the "security".

My mastercard equivalent I had to register before the card would activate. The Visa I used for months before needing to sort VbV.

As above...
I used to get a new password every time. Now most seem to automatically verify.

Never had a problem, if ever I've forgotten the password, I've reset it.

Are you one of these people who assumes that if you have to type information into a computer, it's automatically stupid and wrong?

I'm one of those people who likes to pay for goods/services or whatever else online without having to go through this debarkle with it telling me my bloody password isn't right.

I never had a problem with it.

Even if I forgot my password it's always been fine.

It hasn't asked for a password for ages now though, just goes through.

Not had an issue with the visa verification bit but after that I've had this error on some sites with 3D Secure....

You cannot access this page.

This may be due to one of two reasons:

1. The FI you are trying to access is deactivated
2. The access to the FI is restricted for specific IP addresses, and your address is not one of them

👿

Certain card issuers will automate acceptance (maybe for certain people/sites) as the amount of commission they lose from people abandoning purchases is greater than the fraud exposure.

Never had a problem even with work PC's running massively out of date IE, smartphones and laptops etc.

Used at least 20-30 times.

No problem here, ever. I think it's a bit annoying but that's about it.

My card is set up to send me a code by SMS. Seems to work well. But of course one more way I'll be utterly ****ed if I lose my phone.

Some banks have it set so you don't have to type a password in any more as no one remembers their password

It's crap IME, unlike the MasterCard version which you can just ignore 🙂

It comes up all the time with my Visa Debit card, and just flies through the process; I don't have to do anything at all now. It used to require the password typed in, which was a pain, but it's automated now.
Which is good, it's one less thing to piss me off about Ticketmaster's shonky ticket buying process.

Believe me, however annoying you find it as a customer, it's far more annoying for vendors. It does however provide us with a huge amount of protection which we otherwise wouldn't have.
