I know it’s gonna be busy, we are both early risers so envisage early start around the main touristy bits.
We are staying in the south part- Dorsoduro (?) so if anyone has any breakfast cafe stops around there that would be great.
We will be able to visit the surrounding islands as my brother is hiring a boat, so any ideas for this would be also most welcome.
Thanks

Well it’s a lot bigger than I thought, and there really are a lot of canals and bridges.
It’s not much like Birmingham.

Indeed. I've only been once, on my own as a student and pre-smartphone. I thought I'd do my usual thing of eschewing a map and just finding my way to my accomodation by wandering in the right direction (something I'm normally pretty good at). NOT A CHANCE! After an hour I admitted defeat, it's a proper maze

Burano is very pleasant, known for lacework and IMHO a bit less touristy than Murano, which is the glass-making island
