I ride in an attic room. It is quite small and while I have a good Vacmaster fan it still get's very warm. I think part of this is that it only has a small Velux window. My google skils are failing me so I was wondering if anyone has used some sort of portable extractor fan that can be plugged into a wall socket. Somehow attached to the window? I thought by getting a bit of air exchange improvement it might be more comfortable for riding and a little less smelly afterwards.
Mount an extractor fan on some board and wire with an extension cable, then prop in the opened window. Of course you are leaving a downstairs window and the loft door open? Need to keep the air moving not just blowing.
Leave the door open and aim the Vacmaster fan out of the window. Mr Bernoulli will do the rest.
+1 to what @flaperon says
I used to do that in my old flat on hot days. It only had one aspect so even with all windows fully open I rarely got much of a through draft.
Saw a video online that positioning a fan near a window but blowing the air out the window creates more air circulation than trying to suck fresh air in.
Idea is that your average home fan is better at pushing air away rather pulling air towards it… if that makes sense?
Gave it a go and it really worked the room felt much cooler as the air was being circulated a lot more.
You can also try keeping the window open and blowing air out the door way. Just make sure there is another window open so you create an open loop.

Don't do that. You want yo expel the manky humid air and replace it with pre warmed air which hold more moisture which you then blast out the window.
Or something like that.
Most effective would probably be to use the the velux like a sash window and open it until it's horizontal and help it by putting one fan blowing out at the top aperture, and one blowing in at the bottom aperture.
The difficult bit would be working out how to balance it all without it tumbling down the roof...hang one fan on hooks from the upper frame and the bottom fan hung from hooks on opening frame just forwards of the hinges?
You could also vent the room for 15 minutes before you start, and keep the door shut to limit hot air rising from the house.
Spooky that's sort of what I had in mind. I think I'll either find some clip on fans or build something to test.
Rest of house is warm so don't want that air to be drawn in. Needs to come from outside really.
Will have a play and see if it makes any difference. My main fan gives me air flow and I'd like that to stay on me but I'd like to improve air exchange.
