You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I bought a double barrel foot pump out of the Screwfix bargain bin years ago. I used it for the first time in anger the other day and it was really hard work - pumping for ages (sweating and aching leg) for a few measly psi - is this normal? I don't remember my dads vintage effort being such a pain 30 years ago. I really hope not as I have always ridiculed those cigarette lighter compressors.
Any decent recommends - either man power or 12v?
thanks
Yup they are crap - a bike track pump is better.
Plenty decent electric ones about
I've got a couple of the 12v electric ones. Cheap as chips, but not sure I'd trust the accuracy of gauges on them. That's easily checked with the digital one you use for the bikes (everyone on here seems to own one of them except me!)
They're generally pretty loud but get the job done and no driving around trying to find a garage.
Yep, historically they have been rubbish, but I got this from Halfords and it's really good
Michelin Superfast SUV inflator
I got a cheapy Vonhaus cordless off ebay- works just as well as a corded one and is quicker/more convenient to use which means I'm nore likely to use it.
Thanks all - you have removed my prejudice to electric (on the basis all footpumps are shite) so I bought one of these. I have read spraying silicone spray in the inlet may increase lifespan

13 quid so hopefully it will last more than 13/0.5 = 26 tyre top ups
The new Makita 18v one is meant to be pretty nice. I got a 9m retractable airline for my compressor mounted near the garage door so I can get out to the cars easily. Else track pump is better than footpump IMO.
I use a bike track pump for top ups.
Is there such a thing as a quiet electric one? They all seem to make such a racket...
I have an old yellow Halfords branded one. The spec looks to match this one so might have changed the design.
Works fine & has done for probably 8 years.
