Can anyone tell me how to calculate VAT on a total cost,ie, £2298.90 is the total, what would be the net price?

several ways to do it, but divide by 12 then multiply answer by 10 is simple

Depends on the VAT rate - 99% of the time it'll be 20%, but there are some things at lower rates.

Divide by 6 and then times by 5.

Subtract 32 and multiply by 5 over 9. Then times 117.5. Diving the result by 12 over 10. Add 273 if you're converting from kelvin to faradays.
