I'm in the process of re-insulating the loft. Above the bathroom its just plasterboard with insulation between the ceiling joists, no vapor barrier. Do I need to / should I do something to contain the vapor, if so how can I do this (there's no VB elsewhere, but thought that I should at least do this section.
The roof space is ventilated with tile / ridge vents and does get a bit of condensation in the depths of winter, but I've seen worse.
is your bathroom painted or even better tiled.
If so your condensation isnt coming from there.
Bathroom is painted. There is an air gap around the loft hatch which is probably where a lot of the air is escaping in to the loft. I'm going to fit draft excluders and insulate the hatch as well.
If you do retrofit a vapour barrier you still need ventilation.
Could always use some airtight tape around the loft hatch too, that'll stop any air movement completely.
Edit: Ignore that, you mean a better seal on the hatch itself?
The loft hatch is going to be used occassionally for access, its not square and there's some gaps around it. I'm going to add some beading / draft excluders on the inside to stop airflow through the gaps.
How timely:
Extractor fan if you haven't got one.
