Looking for a reasonably priced 2 man backpacking / bikepacking tent. Anyone know the main differences between these and just any general comments on them?
Obviously not as light as some of the fancier options out there but as both can be had new for £90 - could be a good option for an introduction.
Before anyone says tarp etc - it'll be split between me and the misses and shes not convinced by tarps.
I have a Banshee for solo trips. As you say, great bang for buck and perfectly adequate for me. It's not big though. I'm 6'1 with a fairly average build and I wouldn't want to share the tent.. No experience of the Zenith I'm afraid.
Like arogers I've got a Banshee 200 for solo (mostly car based) wild camping. It's a perfectly decent bit of kit for the money and erects easily. In a bike packing situation I'd think it's both too heavy and too bulky but split between 2 for hiking, it would be OK.
You'd need to be on very good terms with whoever you're sharing with to get 2 in it though, and any get would need to get stored between fly and inner (there is some space in the vestibules but not oodles).
Tarp would be my choice for bikepacking...

Exactly that. It's very quick and easy to pitch (my choice when the weather's looking iffy) and robust but it's pretty small for 2 + gear IMO. Go for the 300 if there will usually be 2 of you to carry it, though bear in mind if you have it rigged for fast pitch all-in-one the weight/bulk split can only really be one carrying poles and pegs, the other with the fly and inner.
No experience of the Zenith, but it looks similar space-wise. Try and see them both pitched is obviously the best bet, I never get much of an idea from those floor plans.
