I have a Transit day van/semi camper/ex network rail welfare van. Its a great van but the problem is that I'm a lanky 6'5" and for some reason I end up with really bad neck/shoulder pain after a few hours driving.

It seems to help alleviate the pain a little by having the seat as far forward as possible on a m-way. I've tried every other position as the transit seats have a lot of adjustment.

Did 4 hours on Sunday and still feeling the pain today! No problems in our Volvo or Defender on long journeys just the van.

Any ideas? or anyone else suffer this?

I'm no were near your height at only 6'2" but I have had that a lot in my old small cars, I found an extra padding on head rest helped and keeping seat up right.

I used to drive 450 miles a week in a transit, the rocking of the van and crap seats gave you a headache and sore back try putting a small pillow behind our back almost on the seat squab, hold it there with bungee cords.

Defender seats although everyone says uncomfy actually promote a very natural uprigh postion.

The transit seats have no support in the middle of your back and let you slouch!

If its your own vehicle get some better seats in with adjustable lumbar support!

You should be able to get a Mondeo seat with adjustable lumbar support that'll fit .

I put my transit seat as low as it will go (front and back) and have the back rest more upright than I normally would.

Also use both hands on the wheel as it's bad to drive lopsided with one hand on the wheel.

I also find keeping the centre armrest out of the way seems to reduce shoulder pain as I'm not tempted to rest on it during a long drive.

Transit connect for work has similar issues. Went for cushion in lower back it helped and oddly need to stretch ham strings every day

Its a cheaper end ford thing.

Their cheap seats are really poor. Always have been.

My mk3 fiesta had a cushion strapped to the lumbar- my mk5 escort also had it - although once i got a mk5 ghia it had lumbar support and height adjustable base- it was possibleto drive for hours in that with no pain.

Got some pishy 20000mile old low rent focus in te state last month and it was good to see they hadnt fixed it.

Still better than vauxhall - they still hae not mastered seat/wheel/pedal alignment ! So you drive all twisted up Even land rover got that right fffs
