Some mates had a Unimog overland camper. Was big slow noisy uneconomical expensive heavy and the actual living part was surprisingly small. They changed it for a sprinter 4x4 and have now been over 12 months with in it in South America
Nah - try Marcus tucks truck (www.tuckstruck.net)
Unimogs are cool but it's like a land rover. Cool but totally impractical and surprising difficult to get parts for.
Want!
As nice as trucks like this look they are completely impractical and not much more than large land yachts. Too big for tight European back roads, modern complex fuel systems that would baulk at African fuel drum 'petrol stations', shouts please hijack/kidnap me because I'm loaded, and an expensive carnet if you want to leave Europe.
My lottery win will be based on an old air cooled Magirus-Deitz

Amazing bit of kit, but I wouldnt swap Melinda for it.

Mehhh.
The folding platform is neat, and looks cool as something to look at at a show. But apart from that it's a tiny box on the back of a huge truck. And the platform solves a problem (the door being 4ft off the ground) that no other camper has anyway........
That snowmads truck is really cool.
Only sleeps/drives 2 - like most overlanders - I'm out - at least for a few more years.
