Pretty spectacular images but it must be an awful human tradgedy as well. I have some happy memories of Valparaiso having spent part of my honeymoon there, one of the most atmospheric places I've ever been. The buildings are packed so closely together on the hills it looks like a crowd in a giant ampitheatre so I can imagine how devastating the fire must be.
Does anyone know how I can make a donation to the Chilean Red Cross? I've googled but work won't let me access their website (?!) and the only other thing I can find is some unconfirmed bank details on a blog.
Just remembered the city might be familiar to you as the site of one (the first?) of those South American urban DH videos.
