anyone used a friends AA card to recover broken down vehicle? What checks do they do? Is it worth the risk of getting caught

I thought that if the membership isnt car specific. Then ths cover is person based and they are covered in any other car. Not entirely sure whether they specify driver or passenger. But from memory when we looked previously is doesnt specify. And they probably wont know anyway.

Wife had aa out year before last they did check I'd and aa card. Aa membership covers you as a passenger so your friend just has to be there

Bear in mind your friend will lose no claims discount on their cover (assuming they have it) so it could end up costing them.

i've done it and used my membership for friends, years ago. you just have to be traveling with them at time of breakdown. as long as a member is present when the van turns up the aa guy isn't gong to care one way or another.
