[history]I have a smallish Jotul stove outside in the barn that was given to me but I haven't got round to refurbing it yet, so it's a bit mucky, slightly rusty and has no glass in the door.
[/history]
Got a few friends popping round for a little BBQ [gas so no extra heat] and a few drinks later today - would it be daft to put the stove outside by the table.
Is it going to work without the glass in the door/a door?
(I was going to put a 4' piece of single wall flue on top to keep the smoke away from us)
It'll be no worse than a chiminea.
it will work but it will also go through wood quickly and not get as warm as intended
You can use them with the door open if you like but you then have, mor eor less, an open fire
Fine for what you want
Partially blocking the door isn't going to make any difference really is it.
But the entire stove will still heat up and emit heat so better than an open firepit in that respect.
* makes note to order new stove glass. I've only had it 3 years 😳
DONT USE COAL
not all coal [ or burners] are approved foruse and it may burn too fast and warp/crack your stove
Best avoided IMHO.
